Beef Cattle
*Becklands’ beef cattle are Red Ruby Devon crosses, one of the top English breeds and one of two breeds local to this area.. They are suckled naturally on their mothers for at least six months and in winter are fed on organic hay or grain mostly grown on the farm *we use homeopathic medicines wherever possible although the need for treatment of any kind is rare. *Becklands Farm is ideal land for rearing beef cattle and has never had a case of BSE *we are inspected by DEFRA Government inspectors, Animal Health, Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Soil Association inspectors *our animals travel individually in the morning only a few miles where they are slaughtered by midday *having reared the cattle carefully for taste and texture, Becklands beef is hung for 3-4 weeks to maximise its tenderness and flavour *to reduce food miles, benefit the environment and offer competitive prices, wherever possible we sell our meat direct to local customers and visitors to the area *Becklands is managed holistically for today and the future for wildlife habitats alongside the well being of people and the land. |
